Monday Morning Bodo's
Once upon a time in 2002, two second years, Chat Hull and Walt McGough, lived in Brown College and like to park their cars in the Bonnycastle parking lot on the weekends. They did not like to have to get up at 7:30 on Monday mornings to move their cars to the Emmet-Ivy garage. They decided to go to Bodo's up Emmet (because the Corner Bodo's hadn't opened yet) and grab some bagels before reparking their cars.
After a few weeks, they let FYP know and invited the chat list, and a whopping six people showed up. They sat in the booth nearest to the door. The numbers grew and shrank based on availability, but it was always pretty small.
One day they saw that Bodo's coffee was called "BoJoe", and they proceeded to name everything on the drink menu: BoTay, BoHoCho, Boda, Boomoo, Booch2O, and Booj. They didn't stop there though. They created a whole Bodingo (Bodo's Lingo) that they made to entice people to come.
BODOMINATION:
The #1 Ticket: In 2006, a first year named Megan, who had an 8 AM Monday class, desperately wanted to go to Bodo's. They decided to do a special early run with her and also get the #1 ticket. They got to the good of the 29 Bodo's, walk in, and there are two truckers already there! It turns out they unlocked the other door first and wouldn't let our guys in to get #1.
Bopression ensued. It was a very dark time.
They decided to try again and go to all three Bodo's locations. SUCCESS. They met up at the Botunda and reveled in their Bodomination.
Five years later in 2011 we celebrated a new crop of Bodonauts, and a new Bodomination. The only fluke that arose was at the Preston Avenue Bodo's, when Corbin Puryear bagel-blocked Claire Hart, a former Bope herself, from getting the #1 ticket. The cash registers were mxed up and that was very sad for Claire.
One year later we did it again, but this time Days on the Lawn organizers pre-ordered a ton of bagels, and Kaity Houk was bagel-blocked from the #1 ticket at the Preston Avenue Bodo's.
Nowadays, we complete Bodomination every spring semester and try our best to get the #1 ticket from every location!
